AIESEC is a global platform for young people to develop their leadership potential through practical experiences of many kinds, including internships, volunteering opportunities, and more. Founded in 1948, AIESEC is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization entirely run by youth for youth.
To me this exchange was something I'll never forget. I've been in exchanges before, but this changed so much about how I see the world. I was an English teacher in a rural school, next to a small city. My family there welcomed me as one of their children and took care of me. My school was small, and didn't have the same opportunities as large ones, but the kids there were so bright and full of love. I grew to care so much about the kids, as they did for me. I grew so connected to the place, but more so the people. I hope one day to be able to go back, to the beauty of the quiet garden in our home, or the life of the loud classrooms I taught in.
From the moment I arrived, Brescia enveloped me in warmth, the locals were kind and generous, and the AIESEC community welcomed the other volunteers and me as though we were already family. Our project fell under the SDG on equity, where we worked with vulnerable children aged 3 to 18, helping them build confidence and improve their English communication skills. Looking back, I genuinely believe I received far more than I gave. Beyond the classroom, I had the privilege of exploring northern Italy alongside my fellow volunteers. What I treasure most, though, are the connections I formed. The friendships I built with local families and volunteers continue to this day,
I LOVED IT. Coming into the exchange i had no prior experience in a full working environment and was a little overwhelmed by the thought. But after my exchange i feel more at ease with the reality of it and have a clearer idea of what’s expected of me in the real world. It also gave me some guidance as to where i want my career to go and put my mind at ease that i was behind in life. BUT MY FAVORITE PART…LC MET. The kindest most welcoming people i have ever met. The exchange really also taught me work-life balance… something i really struggled with and for that i am truly truly thankful:)
The application process is done with the help of our local AIESEC managers. Once you sign up, you will get a personalized consultation during which we can help you figure out the best opportunity for your goals and help with the next steps. We recommend not to apply on our global website aiesec.org without prior guidance, as our local managers can provide detailed information that would make the process smoother and more effecient. Wether you are looking for something specific or are unsure of what exactly is your match - we are here to help!
We provide high level of support for exchange participants from both sides - preparation, stable communication, assistance with adaptation. Locally, we provide support in the application and preparation process: both morally and practically. We have a special procedure for preparing volunteers, which includes several meetings and communication in the chat before, during and after the project. There are additional activities for volunteers from AIESEC in the host city - there is an opportunity to attend cultural events, spend time with local AIESECers, travel together upon agreement with the host party. Lastly, we always ensure your safety and help resolve any issues that may arise during an experience!

The organization spans 126 countries and territories and every aspect of AIESEC’s operations are managed by students and recent graduates.
